Dr. Shashi Tharoor during his lecture meeting organized by Kerala Management Association said that the world of today was one of the scarcities of resources as well as lack of trained manpower. Appropriate technology and effective management is required to marry these two in order to generate prosperity.
Describing the absence of executive authority as the fundamental reality of our Parliamentary system, Dr. Tharoor said that the MP’s could only exercise influence on Central ministries to bring Central resources, approvals, clearances and funding, wherever possible for projects, but the project proposals has to come from the local self governments.
He also cited environmentally responsible leadership, good governance and policy solutions to long standing issues of drinking water, energy security, clean air and affordable housing as core to enhancing quality of life in the country. The Kerala brand has received global recognition for some spheres, such as education and health. But, the state is yet to break off the tag of being industrially unfriendly.
KMA Vice President Mr. V.Sathyanarayanan welcomed the gathering and secretary Mr. S.Rajmohan Nair proposed the vote of thanks.
